The Tiri Village: Mustang

The small yet beautiful Tiri village is a beautiful destination for the trekkers who want to experience the trek in a relatively short time. The trek allows the great views of the Dhaulagiri in Pokhara and the Annapurna in Jomsom.
The trek allows the trekkers to experience the modern Pokhara city as well as the authentic village like Tiri. The trekkers will explore the old monasteries that are keeping the Buddhist culture alive for a real long time.

Walking around the Annapurna region, the trek to Tiri village also offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the local hospitality while staying in the community homestay. You will get to know the local people more and taste the local culture and food. Thus, your trip will not only benefit you will the fun and adventure, but also help the locals to make an impact on their living.


DAY 1 – ARRIVE KATHMANDU
You will be met at the airport and be taken to the hotel. You may relax or explore until the group meets at dinner. We will discuss about the whole trip today and make necessary preparations.

DAY 2 – TOUR AROUND KATHMANDU
After breakfast, you venture out for the full day sightseeing (6-7 hours) in a fascinating medieval city, its streets, bazaars, temples, shrines and Buddhist stupas are crowded with peoples of every creed, color and race. Rickshaws, taxis and hooting motorists add to the din and create that special atmosphere that Kathmandu is so famous for. You visit the Swayambhunath Temple (also known as the Monkey Temple) and the Durbar Square in the heart of the city. This is where the Kumari is. Many of Kathmandu’s most historic and important temples are located here. Next you will drive to Patan, once a beautiful city in its own right which rivaled Kathmandu in terms of the splendor of its temples and squares. You cross a bridge over the Bagmati River that links Kathmandu with the city of Patan, its neighbor to the south. Patan has more excellent architecture and has long been a centre of Newari craftsmanship. There will also be time to purchase any last minute supplies for the mountains.

DAY 3 – FLY FROM KATHMANDU TO POKHARA, 25 MINUTES FLIGHT
After breakfast, we will drive to the airport for flight to Pokhara. The flight will take around 25 minutes. The flight to Pokhara is a scenic flight that offers the tourists with the views of the Manaslu, Annapurna and Langtang mountains. As we reach Pokhara, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Since, the flight takes no long time; there still remains a whole day for the tourists to explore the beautiful valley. Pokhara is a perfect place to spend some spare time. Whether it is with chilling, shopping or experiencing some adventure, Pokhara is the best destination. You can visit the most famous site in Pokhara: the Phewa Lake. The beautiful lake serves the tourists with the boats to make a tour around the trek. The 4.43 km2 Lake beautifully reflects the Machhapuchhare mountain on the surface of the crystal water.

Similarly, the lake side market in Pokhara is a perfect place to roam in the evening. The lakeside is so lively in the evening where you can enjoy the local foods and culture as well as many restaurants and cafes serving foods you want. You can also enjoy the beautiful view of the sunset from the Phewa Lake.

DAY 4 – FLY FROM POKHARA TO JOMSOM, DRIVE TO KAGBENI (2858 M) AND TREK TO TIRI (2800 m)
From Pokhara, we will catch an early morning flight to Jomsom. The flight from Pokhara to Jomsom will take around 20 to 25 minutes. The flight will offer the tourists with the spectacular views of the Annapurna Mountain. Pokhara Jomsom flight is very popular among the tourists and trekkers since Jomsom is the gateway to the famous pilgrimage site: Muktinath temple. Although, the place is reachable by the roadways, the journey by air is the most common.

Situated at an altitude of 2800 meters, Jomsom is the administrative headquarter of Mustang district. Jomsom is best known for the spare vegetation and dry climate conditions and has two eight thousanders: Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri.

We will drive from Jomsom to Kagbeni. The afternoon may be a little more windy with the craggy rocks and sand. The drive to Kagbeni will offer the tourists with views of the peaks like Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Dhampus and Tukuche peak. Following the brown landscape under the mountains, we will reach Kagbeni. Kagbeni will give the trekkers the first sight of the Upper Mustang. We will explore the Kagbeni in the afternoon and also visit the Kagbeni monastery.

From Kagbeni, we will start our trek to Tiri village. We will start to ascend up for about 15 to 20 minutes. After this short walk, we stand on our destination for today: the Tiri village.

DAY 5 – EXPLORE TIRI VILLAGE
We will spend a day in the small and beautiful village Tiri. We will hike to the view point. The view point will provide the beautiful view of the underlying cute village. We will pack our lunch on the way back to the village.

The Sandup Choeding Monastery in Tiri is also an attraction of the village. The 860 years old monastery lies stands on a spot where there was a human heart shaped rock. The oldest Gompa in the area was destroyed by the fire which was later reconstructed by the monks and nuns.

In the afternoon, we will go for a fossil hunting adventure in Kali Gandaki basin. You can also choose to visit the apple farm in the words instead. However in the evening, we will enjoy the cultural show of the village.

DAY 6 – TIRI VILLAGE TO MUKTINATH (3710 m)
After breakfast, we will start our trek to Muktinath: the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage site of the mountains. We will explore the surrounding area of the temple. The temple is a small-pagoda style structure where devotees believe that they can wash away the sin by taking a bath in the 108 taps. After having lunch in Muktinath, we start our trek back to Tiri village for the night.

DAY 7 – DRIVE FROM MUKTINATH JOMSOM AND FLY TO POKHARA AND AGAIN TO KATHMANDU
After breakfast, we will drive back to Jomsom. We catch a flight to Pokhara from Jomsom which will take around 25 minutes. From Pokhara, we will again fly to Kathmandu from Pokhara. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. This will be your last night stay in Kathmandu. So, you can also choose some time to explore the city. We also have arranged you with the lavish cultural dinner hosted by Dolma.

DAY 8 – DEPARTURE
Our representative will drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport for final departure.
