WILD KARNALI – JUMLA & RARA LAKE TREK

Rara Lake, by the Thakuri Community

This camping adventure leads you into the heartland of an ancient Nepali culture, around the “Queen of Lakes” – Rara Lake, one of the highest in Nepal. The local Thakuri community believe that a god fired his arrow, opening the passage of the lake. Their descendants, in partnership with Dolma Ecotourism, have now opened this passage for guests.

The adventure begins with visits to World Heritage Sites around Kathmandu followed by flights to Jumla. From Jumla, you will trek through wilderness to the serenity of Rara Lake and the Rara National Park. Fringed by snow-capped mountains, you will experience the forests and unexplored beauty that is home to Musk Deer, Himalayan Black Bear and Leopards. Join the life and celebrations of the local people who welcome you to their villages with their warm smiles.
